Utility scale project: Solar park Fledderbosch

The solar park Fledderbosch with an installed capacity of 103.7 MWp is located around 9 kilometers north of the city center of Groningen in the Netherlands. It is one of the largest solar PV projects in the Netherlands.

Apart from its size another special aspect is its sustainability. In addition to an energy cooperative that supports social projects in the region, 30% of the area is a nature reserve for birds and is regularly monitored by specialists and readjusted if necessary. No grass was sown over the entire area, including under the solar panels, but various herbs to improve biodiversity. The herbs were specially selected to minimize the need for mowing. Furthermore, residents of the province of Groningen can purchase electricity from Fledderbosch.

For the Hamburg-based CEE Group, asset manager for renewable energies, meteocontrol implemented the entire monitoring and control of the system also including engineering, project management, commissioning, and reliable grid connection. The power control solution based on the blue’Log XC is compliant with the Netherlands Grid Code Type D. The data from the system is transferred both to the platform VCOM Cloud used by CEE Group and to a third-party portal which will be used by the O&M company.
