Up for a coffee with ... Stefan

Over a cozy coffee, we met with Stefan Seider, the Head of Technical Support. Stefan has been an integral part of the team for five years, sharing insights into his daily work, the culture at meteocontrol (mc), and much more.

mc: Stefan, thank you for taking the time to meet with us today. You've been with meteocontrol for five years now. How would you describe your time here?

Stefan: It's truly been an exciting journey. I would say my time at meteocontrol is characterized by collegiality, a willingness to learn, and, of course, plenty of coffee. (laughs) It's an environment that challenges me daily but also moves me.

mc: You lead the technical support team. Can you tell us more about your role and the department?

Stefan: Certainly. Our team is responsible not only for responding to customer inquiries but also for conducting customer training – online, in Augsburg and Berlin, or sometimes on-site at customers' locations –, handling system setup, and direct marketing. We have an international presence and are represented in almost every meteocontrol branch. What I especially appreciate is the diversity of our tasks and the opportunity to constantly learn and grow.

mc: And what qualities are particularly important in your team?

Stefan: Teamwork is at the top of the list. We work closely together and support each other wherever possible. Additionally, it's important to enjoy working with people and to bring a high willingness to learn in order to always stay up-to-date with technology.

mc: What makes working at meteocontrol special?

Stefan: Oh, there's a lot. But if I had to sum it up in three words, I would say: exciting, challenging, and moving. No day is like the other, and that's what makes my work here so rewarding.

mc: Do you have a favorite tool or task?

Stefan: I'm constantly questioning and optimizing our processes. It might not be a specific tool, but this continuous improvement is something that brings me great joy.

mc: Was it always your plan to work in the renewable energy sector?

Stefan: Actually, I ended up in the PV sector somewhat by chance. But I'm very glad I made this step and can't imagine a better place today.

mc: Can you share a success story from your department?

Stefan: Every satisfied customer is a success for us. It's the sum of these success stories that shows how important our work is.

mc: What challenges have you recently overcome?

Stefan: The steadily increasing demand has led us to digitize our processes as much as possible. This is an ongoing task, but we are making good progress.

mc: Which personality would you like to have coffee with?

Stefan: Helmut Schmidt would have been interesting, but I guess I'm a bit late for that.

mc: Finally, how do you keep a cool head in stressful times?

Stefan: I try to break down larger, more complex issues into smaller, manageable tasks as much as possible. And of course, a good coffee in between always helps ;)

Stefan laughs and takes a sip of his coffee before we conclude the interview. His dedication and passion for his work and meteocontrol are unmistakable. It's clear that people like Stefan form the heart of mc and contribute significantly to the company's success.
