The day after tomorrow – what will the earth look like?
An artistic insight about the ideas and dreams of the next generation
Our common goal is a livable and green future. To mark World Earth Day, we asked children of our colleagues how they imagine the world of the future. What are the things that concern future generations, what is important to them and how do they imagine the earth in the future?
Kathleen Rogers, President of EarthDay.org puts it this way, "We need to address natural processes, green technologies, and innovative thinking that can have a lasting and transformative impact on restoring our Earth."
Our artists take a more pragmatic approach, visualizing their wishes and ideas on paper. For example, Emil (6) wishes that there will be enough food, water and living space for everyone in the future world. Caro (13) dreams of a world covered with sunshine and an intact environment with colorful plants and animals on land and in the sea. She hopes for peace and love for all and wants the Corona virus to be defeated. Franca (4) also enjoys the diverse wildlife and has the wish that there will be as many animals in the future. Carlo (4) would like to see space for people and animals in the future. The twins Sofia and Davide (5) think that there is no second place like the earth and want to improve the quality of life of all people in the future with renewable energy sources.
With this idea they are close to the vision of meteocontrol. For us, every day is Earth Day, because our philosophy is: Only those who actively shape the future and drive ideas forward will change the world. This is what we believe in. Our goal is a sustainable clean energy supply worldwide. In this way, we want to make it possible for our children and grandchildren to realize their dreams of a green colorful world with opportunities for everyone.
The official theme of Earth Day 2021 is "Restore Our Earth" and refers to natural processes, green technologies and innovative thinking to restore the world's ecosystems. It is up to each and every one of us to preserve the Earth we live on. We all need a healthy Earth to sustain our work, livelihood, health, survival and happiness. A healthy planet is not an option - it is a necessity.
More than 1 billion people in 192 countries participate in Earth Day activities each year, making it the largest civic event in the world.
We want to do our part: let's be inspired by the dreams of the next generation as an incentive for our efforts to slow climate change with the help of renewable energy. In our gallery we give a glimpse of these honest and wonderful artworks.
